Bring Haseeb’s family in Afghanistan to safety

Haseeb is a wonderful colleague and friend, who has been in Berlin for the last 6 years. Being academically gifted, he has been able to create a life for himself and his wife here. He is a kind, compassionate person who has helped me with his kindness over the time that I have known him. His family in Afghanistan were happy to see him prosper but never planned to leaved their country.

Things have changed dramatically in the last few weeks. With the US withdrawing, the Taliban is already targeting his hometown. His mother, two sisters, two brothers, and their children need to leave as soon as possible. The plan is to get them  to Kabul and then either to Tajikistan or Turkey as soon as the opportunity becomes available.

But in the chaos that has gripped Afghanistan now this has become very expensive. He has done his research and needs to raise EUR 15,000 as soon as possible to buy the tickets, visas, and a safe passage for them. Given how quickly the situation is changing, we don’t know when they can get out, but we want to ensure that they are not hindered by lack of funds.

Please contribute any amount that you can. In case his family is lucky and does not need to use all the funds, we will pass the funds onto organizations that are working to help other people who are displaced.
