BRING DADS FIRETRUCK BACK HOME

Donation protected
As some of you may know my father Daniel W Mumford was a member at S.W.Johnson S.F.E  Fire Company Number 1 and died in the line of duty May 9th 1998.  My father was a Xerox Technician, Part time Sheriff on the Rockland County Sheriff’s Department but most importantly he was a Fireman.  He loved everything about the firehouse but the most important thing to him was the Fire trucks.  He had many years of devoted service to S.W. Johnson including corresponding Secretary from 1976-77, Assistant Chief Chauffeur 1983-1986 and again in 1990-1991, and was then Chief Chauffer from 1991-1993.  He cared for his fire trucks like they were one of his own children but one truck that stood out from the rest was his BABY the 23-Quad.   He actually named it BABY!!!!!  He absolutely loved that truck.  No matter how many new trucks came through over the years BABY got all the love and attention from him and was in pristine condition.  Many of my childhood memories of my father were in that firehouse climbing all over the 23-quad.  While I had to be careful of fingerprints cause Dad would yell at me I always had a blast on it.   Back in December of 2015 I was able to bring my Son Daniel Mumford named after his grandfather to the firehouse to see all the trucks.  Can you guess out of 4 fire trucks which one he choose to run to first?  You got it the 23 quad (BABY) He grinned from ear to ear and part of me at that moment realized that Dad had been with me!!!!  While my son climbed in and out of the truck and sat in the driver seat all I could think about was the times I spent there with my father.  So when it came as a surprise to me that the Village wanted to part with the truck I learned it had been put into an online auction.  I was so upset by the news but thought to myself maybe I can get the truck cheap and restore it back to original condition in my father’s memory.  As the bids started to rise I was losing hope.  I kept bidding $50 dollar increments past the point that I can afford to try and win this beautiful truck but in the end I could not keep up.  I am asking friends, family, fellow firefighters, and anyone who would be kind of enough to donate to this cause to please help me bring this truck back home in memory of my father.   I have located the high bidder winner of the truck but at this point now he has intentions of scrapping the truck for the cost of raw materials. He would sell it to me but is asking double what he paid for it.  I can’t let this happen to such an amazing truck that not only has been such a huge part of my life but also to a lot of other fallen fire fighters in Rockland County.  My goal is to make enough money to purchase the truck back from the High bidder and then restore it to have it entered into a Firemen’s Museum for everyone to enjoy.   Thank you all for your support. Any donations would be greatly appreciated.  Lets bring this truck back home.  Thank You all for your support, this means the world to me.
