Bring Back Treasure Beach: Aid Elizabeth Taylor's Family

Treasure Beach, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica. This fishing community is home to my mother-in-law, Elizabeth Taylor, her sister, Aunty Classie, and my sister-in-law, Janelle Elliot.

Their home and beachfront was destroyed by Hurricane Melissa; it literally took the beach away and unearthed the graves of their parents. The sandy beach is now rocky and below the natural ground level of their home. In order to rebuild, they will need tons of sand and dirt to bring the beach up to the natural ground level.

This beach has been their home for over 100 years. Many generations have beautiful memories here, and we want more generations to enjoy and create new memories.

This beach is communal; visitors come through here to catch boat tours, watch sunsets, and fishermen bring home their catch through this beach and enjoy Eggy’s Bar, which was washed away during this storm. This beach is a necessity to the livelihood of the community. All are always welcomed, and all help is greatly appreciated.

My family has been rebuilding from Hurricane Beryl of 2024, and now Hurricane Melissa has taken their home and the community’s beach.

If you took the time to read this story, please take the time to donate anything. Any amount, your prayers are heard and felt and give strength to rebuild again.

Our hope is to see everyone on this beach laughing, playing, and creating memories that last a lifetime.
