Bright Island Outreach wants your help to provide 20 free denture 'SMILES' to less fortunate people.
The lovely Doña in the picture could not recall the last time she had any teeth, she said she got by ok without them. Nevertheless, you can see her beaming face, she was extremely grateful to get her new dentures!
Our humanitarian doctors and dentists will be serving the beautiful community of La Otra Banda, near the city of Higüey, in the Dominican Republic from June 30th to July 6th, 2019 and in collaboration with La Fundación Muchachos de Luz.
The aim of this campaign is to raise $1000us dollars and give 20 life transforming SMILES (dentures) to deserving patients.
Fabricating a typical SMILE (denture) costs about $50us dollars. That cost makes critical dental procedures like this unaffordable to impoverished Dominicans, and they live without sufficient oral care - unless people like us (people like you) donate our resources.
Founded in 2013, 'BIO' (as we are called on the island), is an organization that creates opportunities for personal transformation through connection, contribution, education, and treatment.
We organize and facilitate philanthropic expeditions to the poorest parts of the island. They include providing free medical and dental treatments, continuing professional education, and community collaborations.
Over the years we have seen the conditions in these poor communities improving on the island, but there is still a major gap for a significant portion of the population, where limited access to adequate healthcare and education remains a problem.
Our purpose is to contribute to the wellbeing of the communities and patients we serve in ways that are meaningful to them. Please join us and have an important impact on the lives of those in great need.
Our group will also be participating in beach cleanup efforts as waste piles up on the beaches at an alarming rate.
You will be able to see the rewarding results when we broadcast live over our social media channels during the mission.
