A Brick Making Machine for Raranya
Donation protected
The schools in Raranya Tanzania lack functioning latrines, which causes widespread health and education problems, and is especially harmful for girls who cannot attend school during menstruation. Many end up dropping out.
If we are able to give the Raranya Community a brick making machine, they can fix their latrines and build a safe house for the area girls who want to escape Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), which is still practiced heavily in the region. With a brick making machine, they can make other repairs and improvements, taking ownership of their needs, and laying a foundation for their growth.
Since 2009, I have been visiting Tanzania and engaging students and community members with opportunities to collaborate. Although we have had many exciting impacts, with the help of generous supporters who are inspired by the work, this project is particularly exciting for me. A brick making machine will be owned by the Raranya Community- it will be their resource, and they will be responsible for its successes and impacts.
As we all struggle with our own growth and impacts during these trying times, what a wonderful gift to give to this deserving community. And how exciting to see what they do with this important machine.
