Brianna and Journi: The fight of their lives.

Help for Brianna and Journi


As some of you may know, I've been advocating here and there for my dear friend Brianna and her precious daughter; Journi. I was originally going to release this fundraiser a few months back to help Bri get an attorney, but at the time she wanted to try and come up with the money herself. Unfortunately it has come to the point where its necessary to come to the public and ask for your help because the fees are so high.  Although she has exhausted every attempt, no one is willing to help fight for her unless she has the money to pay for the proper representation.

While attending school full time, working, and mothering her daughter as a single parent, she was forced to endure a horrifying situation in which she was falsely accused of harming her daughter by an upset friend. The allegations against her were proven to be false in court but upon the case opening, an article that was done on Brianna as a success story was taken out of context and used against her regarding her past as a teen in the system. It was deemed that the abuse she herself endured as a child in the foster care system was enough to remove her right to parent her own child for the risk of mental illness caused by trauma. Which is not true at all or what this article was displaying about Brianna in any way, but what was meant to be represented as a raw and real testimony of a woman who overcame the traumas of the foster care system and grew up to be a responsible young woman. You can see that they took the negative part of Brianna's Journey as a TEEN and are using it to deem her unfit to parent. This is not okay and is not fair. 
Surely they could have considered this article that Brianna was in where she was helping someone in need. This woman deserves the same type of help she offers others. 
All of Brianna's friends and family have done our best to reach out to the courts, mayor, news stations, advocates, to prove that Brianna is a gentle and sane young woman who is not only an amazing contributor to her community and society but that she is an extraordinary mother to her little girl.  She has reached out to news stations. which tell her that they would love to take her story but she needs and ATTORNEY to speak for her.. This is where it gets complicated. Brianna simply does not have the money to pay a lawyer to represent her. Every court appointed attorney she gets tries to convince her to settle for an unfair plea instead of push for 100% justice to be tried and served, which is all Brianna is asking.  She has done everything asked of her and more and is still not reunited with her child but enduring  extreme harassment by the system that has failed her. She is now working two jobs and unfortunately due to the overwhelming amount of tribulations this situation has caused her, she is still unable to come up with the funds to cover this hefty lawyer fee. With your help, she can finally have the opportunity to fairly receive justice.
