Breanna Fitzgerald needs medical equipment

Breanna was born at 24 weeks 2 days and she had to fight from the day she was born. She has a chronic lung disease and pulmonary hypertension. She had stage 3 eye disease needing injections in both eyes and if that wasn't enough Breanna decided to test the doctors by developing sepsis and pushing them to point where they were so worried that if she didn’t start using her kidneys that they didn’t know what to do. No sooner had she overcome this Breanna decided to test doctors again, this time an aspiration pneumonia effecting 2/3 of her lungs. Drs again we’re worried and again she pulled through. Four times we were told she would die and each time against the odds she survived. You can see with her story, Breanna Fitzgerald is a fighter and she always keeps on fighting. She spent a total of 8 months in hospital before coming home on oxygen and she’s been home since. January 24 2022 she will be 2 …. A huge milestone for her, is off the oxygen and although delayed is working hard to reach her developmental milestones. Which brings me to why I am asking for your help. My little girl is such a fighter and she needs help now to fight for what she needs to continue her improving development. Right now she needs a walking aide as she is trying to walk but can't as she doesn't have the core strength to do it. Currently we are holding her up all the time as she hates sitting and lying down for long periods of time especially as she wants to stay standing and try to walk. A walker will strengthen her chest area and abdomen muscles and also gives her independence as well so she can move about with us without being carried all the time. It also means she can play with her sisters and brothers which also important for her social and cognitive development. The walker was recommended by a specialist physio but was turned down by HSE because they prefer the money go towards a wheelchair in 2 years rather than a walker now to push her developing walking skills. Hopefully she can avoid needing the wheelchair by getting the skills to walk. Or at least be less reliant. She also needs specialist boots to protect her growing leg bones and ligaments as well as other potential equipment to support her own fighting spirit to be the best she can be. Thank you for reading this short story of Breanna and thank you for all your support in advance.
