Brave Boston’s Battle
Donación protegida
Boston Emmett Willett is my youngest grandson.
He and his Mum Amanda (my daughter), his Dad Kev and his two older brothers Camden and Nash are in need of help.
Please take the time to read below and if you are able to contribute, any amount would be gratefully received.
I thank you in advance for any assistance you may be able to give.
Boston has endured more in his 9 months of life than most adults will endure in a lifetime. After having his first surgery for pyloric stenosis at 28days old, he has gone on to require many many hospital admissions, surgeries, and specialists appointments. Boston’s journey hasn’t been easy by any means. During a 6 week long admission, he suffered a respiratory arrest at just 2 months old requiring him to be admitted to the Intensive Care Unit - no reason for the arrest has been found, and he’s since gone on to require extra manual respiratory support during his latest surgery when he stopped breathing again. After many admissions, scans, biopsies and tests, Boston has been diagnosed with a Redundant Sigmoid Colon - basically that section (possibly more) of his large intestine does not work. This section of his bowel is currently been planned to be surgically removed. Boston is also needed to be fed a special prescription only formula and is fed both orally and via a tube inserted past his stomach into his small intestine via his nose. That tube is soon to be changed to a tube that will be inserted through his abdomen into his stomach. This will require yet another surgery for this to happen, however there is yet to be an end in sight for when the need for his tube feeds will no longer be required. Right now Boston does not qualify for any kind of funding to help pay for the supplies needed for his tube feeding. Not only has Boston had significant issues with his bowel, he has also had a rare auto immune like condition called Kawasaki’s Disease. This is completely unrelated to his bowel condition and saw him admitted to hospital on two occasions (total of 2 weeks in hospital). Boston required many treatments and extended treatment with steroids as his body did not respond to the 1st and 2nd line treatments for the condition. After many admissions to hospital, many visits for scans, bloods tests, doctors appointments - totaling approximately 6 months out of his 9 months of life, the cost of supplies needed for his tube feeding and prescriptions, the financial strain it has had on the family is incredible and has drained their savings almost dry. With Amanda his mum being on maternity leave (returning to work part time soon but has limited paid leave for upcoming surgeries and appointments), Kev his dad loosing his job a few days before Boston’s second admission to Intensive Care (has a new job however has limited paid leave due to the length of time he has been there) and 2 other little boys to care for and support, being able to continue to pay for the day to day expenses while in hospital is only going to become more and more difficult. With a minimum 2 more surgeries in the works and many many more appointments required, paid leave will run out very fast. With Amanda and Kev being very proud people, and asking for help isn’t a strong point of theirs. We are hoping to raise enough money to allow one less thing to be stressful during this hard time for the family. To have the financial aspect taken care of and them not having to worry about bills getting paid or their boys needs not getting met due to finances would be a massive help for them so they can focus on the needs of their children.
