Brain Cancer surgery recovery for James Person

Hi, my name is Ashley and I am fundraising to try and help relieve some of the stress on my family during this difficult time.

Wednesday my mom and dad were working for his own local handyman business finishing up a job, come Thursday April 17, 2025 my dad really wasn’t feeling well so my mom took him to a walk in clinic, as he thought he had an ear infection with symptoms being a bad headache and off balance, they determined he did not have a ear infection and sent him home. Later that day my mom took my dad to the Grace hospital where they did further testing and found a mass on his brain, they gave him prescriptions for swelling and pain and set him up with an apt Tuesday with a neurosurgeon. However, an hour into my dad being home from the hospital he started throwing up non stop and an ambulance was called.

He was taken to HSC where more tests were done and the doctors found the mass on the back of his brain was cancer and it was pressing against the stem of the brain that goes to the spine causing fluid to build up, The neurosurgeon told us he needed surgery right away or the flow would cut off and he would be dead within days. They wanted to wait until Sunday morning but by Saturday night he got so bad they had to rush him in for emergency surgery to remove the tumor!

He went from 0-100 in a blink of an eye!

We’re very happy and relieved to say the surgery went well however, we’re not out of the woods yet! It will be a long road to recovery. With my dad being the sole provider in the family the stress of him losing his business he is so very proud of and loves passionately is very hard on him! The worry of how he is going to pay the bills is all he can concentrate on when we truly need him to concentrate on healing and getting well at this time. With no insurance this has become our last resort at the moment.
