Braelynn’s Battle

Hi, My name is Jessica Scholl and my cousin Katelyn needs your help. She is a single mother of six amazing kiddos and one of them really needs your help. Instead of explaining myself, I'll allow her to tell you in her own words below:

"I’m going to try to make this as short as I possibly can for those of you wondering what is going on. Braelynn has been throwing up since the day after Easter. After 3 days of vomiting I took her to urgent care, they dismissed us & chalked it up as a stomach bug. Another week rolls around & my daughter is still not acting herself. She’s been sleeping A LOT the last two weeks, still puking & complaining of her head hurting. I got tired of it & took her to general hospital on Sunday. They took blood & a urine sample & finally came back & told me she was “being hit with two different stomach virus’s” prescribed her zofran for the nausea & disregarded everything else I was telling them about & sent us out. Her school called me to pick her up yesterday because her teacher “observed” that she was acting “loopy”. So I called her pediatrician & demanded her to be seen yesterday. When I took her to her pediatricians office, they heard me & listened to my concerns & sent me right to Danville hospital. Once we got to Danville they took tests, did a cat scan & noticed that she’s walking funny & you can just tell she doesn’t seem right. Finally they took her father & i into the family room & told us that there is a mass on her brain. They put a drain tube into her head to drain the fluid in her brain because the mass is stopping the fluids from draining. They then life flighted her to the children’s hospital in Philadelphia. They did an MRI & were able to see more of the mass. We are now talking about putting another drain tube in & they’re going to try taking as much of this tumor out as they can safely to test it & then look into possible radiation to try to shrink the rest. She may need the drain tube for the rest of her life, but we are hopeful from here. This is all I can think of right now, me & dad are running on very little sleep; so it’s hard to keep together everything they’re saying. Thank you too everyone who has been asking about our daughter & have been sending prayers & so much love. We appreciate all of you. I will post more once I know more."
