We're adopting, and we are super excited!
You know that feeling when you're next in line for the huge roller coaster ride at the amusement park? That pretty much sums up all the emotions we're experiencing as we embark on this exhilarating domestic infant adoption journey! Expanding our family is something we've anticipated for a long time and we can barely contain our nervous excitement! Like a roller coaster ride, we know there will be uphill climbs, overcoming fears, thrills and loops, but we're confident that we're on the secure path that God has set for us and it'll all be worth it in the end.
While we are looking forward to welcoming a baby into our arms in the near future, taking a stand for life and sharing what we've been given to help children experience God's love has always been part of our family DNA. Brad spent two months traveling the country participating in pro-life rallies (before we were married), and we both feel strongly that we are called to be part of the pro-life solution in our nation. Together we served as junior high school youth leaders and on our church's kids' ministry team, and we have participated in children's outreach missions trips to other countries. We also have experience as foster parents. Though we're not sure that you can be fully prepared for adoption, God has been readying us for this moment and we are willing and obedient to fulfill the desires that he has placed within our hearts.
Despite our love of adventure, it's truly God's peace that is steering us through this adoption journey. Years of disappointments, tears and questions while trying to grow our family biologically led us to the divine assurance that God is always with us and that He is good. In 2016, we miraculously became pregnant and we were blessed with a baby boy, Grady. He brings such joy to our lives and we are incredibly grateful to have him! Since then we have experienced additional loss, but now we feel—stronger than ever—that this is the time to pursue adoption and share the love of God with another child. The countless hours of research have only increased our desire to expand our family, and Brad & I are in agreement moving forward.
Here's where it gets interesting: The progression of growing our family is now extending beyond Brad & I to include family and friends who want to be involved in the process. It's humbling, yet it's also an honor to provide an opportunity for you to join with us spiritually and financially. Many of you have touched our lives in special ways, and we welcome the continuation of your influence and blessing in God's plan for our family.
Currently, we are working with Haven Adoptions on our home study and Faithful Adoption Consultants for most of the other pieces of the process. We're faithfully taking one step at a time—allowing God to guide and provide for us, as He always has. While there are multiple variables, we are hopeful to welcome the newest member of the White family within the next year!
Thank you for being part of our tribe! God never intended us to do life alone, and we wouldn't be where we are without the support of our family and friends. We love you and we are thankful for you. It's going to be a great ride these next few months and we are anticipating all that is to come!
