Books for Troops-victim of fraud for $2000

Our non-profit, Books for Troops was the victim of fraud amounting to $2000. Most of our budget goes for postage for our donated books to the deployed troops all over the world and to 30 VA hospitals in the US and in Landstuhl, Germany. The $2000 taken would send 140 boxes of 40-50 books to our troops. The contents of the boxes are shared among the troops, so the books will be used by many other troops besides the person who receives them. The purpose of sending the books is to provide escape for the troops, give them a distraction from the feelings of loneliness, boredom, stress, fear and homesickness. The books also provide a sense of home. Finally the books remind the troops that they are being remembered with pride, gratitude and concern from those at home. To not be able to send 140 boxes of books is a tremendous loss.  Ellen Keegan, Director
