INACTIVE Books for the Babies campaign 2019

Donation protected

Even very small babies need books!  Your winter donation will get books to them during the holiday season!

Every year in the U.S., approximately 1 out of 10 babies is born too early. These infants come into the world before completing the normal 37 to 40 weeks of pregnancy and they are missing out on the important growth and development that happens in the final weeks of pregnancy. When they are born premature, they spend those early weeks, sometimes months, in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), connected to life monitoring machines where they may miss something else – early exposure to language – leading to slower literacy abilities later on.

I'm Aidan Chen, a senior at Weston High School in Weston, MA and I started the Books for the Babies initiative to give these babies born too early a stronger start. It was founded two years ago to support the March of Dimes’ mission to improve the health of premature babies and advocate for their future literacy.  Books are distributed to NICUs in the Boston area and military events sponsored by the March of Dimes.

No donation is too small. Consider making a contribution during the fall season with a gift that can give these small babies the best start and impact their lives. Contributions will also go toward the research spearheaded by the March of Dimes that aims to stem the number of premature births in the U.S. and improving the health of these young babies.
