Bobby’s Fight against Brain Norcardiosis
Spende geschützt
Most of you know my husband’s story….
Bobby was diagnosed with what they thought was pneumonia in Nov of 2022. After continuing to have discomfort a month later, he asked to return to the ER. This time they admitted him and was still treating him for pneumonia. The morning after I realized he was having major headaches so I asked for a CT scan of his head just to be safe. 45 minutes later the physician tells me he’s sorry, but it appears that he has stage 4 brain cancer with 11 lesions showing on his brain. Imagine my shock. He was transported to a different hospital to have an emergency brain surgery. The test came back weeks later showing he had a very rare brain disease called Nocardiosis.
Nocardiosis is a fatal brain disease caused by bacteria found in soil and water. It can affect the lungs, brain, and skin. Norcardia has a 15% survival rate once it reaches the brain according to the CDC and we are Blessed that Bobby is in that 15%.
Bobby has been on multiple aggressive antibiotic treatments since December 2022. His immune system has started to eat his nerves thinking they are causing the infection in his body. Because of that, he is no longer able to walk and is losing strength in his hands. He has developed Gillian Barre Syndrome (GBS) along with short term memory loss.
As you can imagine, with all of the different symptoms and diagnosis comes a lot of different treatments and they are expensive. The treatment for this brain disease is equivalent to chemo for a cancer patient just a different medication. The treatment for GBS is called IVIG and it is to help rebuild his immune system and very costly as well.
Bobby has been a fighter and enduring the pain as best as he can. Some days and nights the pain is so intense that all he can do is ball in a fetal position and cry.
I am starting this Go Fund Me account to help ease the burden. Outside of the treatments that are getting to be more intense, he is needing different equipment to help move him about.
We are doing all we can to keep him as comfortable as possible and to feel as normal as he can. I love my husband dearly and vowed in sickness and in health. I just didn’t think the sickness would be at such a young age or to this degree.
From the bottom of my heart I humbly ask that you share this link with friends and family and if possible in giving (any amount will help).
