Bo Clark's Top Surgery Recovery Fund

Hi! Thanks so much for visiting Bo’s GoFundMe! This is a message from Grace Canzano on the behalf of Bo:
I am SO excited to tell you all that the loveliest of humans, Bo Clark, is finally getting top surgery on October 15, 2019! I am writing this campaign on their behalf because right now, Bo really needs financial assistance in order to stay afloat while they are recovering from top surgery. The recovery period is about six weeks, and given their jobs, their surgeon has recommended they stay out of work that entire period. They will also need a lot of help with other tasks like doing laundry, grocery shopping, even walking their dog Ivy.
Bo came out as non-binary/trans masculine six years ago and has been binding their chest for over five years. Binding involves wearing a tight garment to compress a person’s chest and afford a flatter appearance. Binding is super helpful and gender affirming for so many people, but can also take a huge toll on a person’s body and is not always viable long-term option, which is why it’s so amazing that Bo is able to get top surgery (a double mastectomy) completely covered by their insurance this fall! Due to binding, Bo has received physical therapy for shoulder and back pain and is no longer able to bind, so it is more important than ever that they receive this procedure in order to feel comfortable and affirmed in their body.
Bo has been wanting to get top surgery for years, but has always put it off because they have never been financially secure enough to afford the lost income from the recovery period. This is where we can help them out to take care of themself! Bo has no savings, very little paid time off, and does not have access to familial wealth, or any large sum of money to help them get through this extremely important time. Bo works as a PCA and a child caregiver, and so much of their time and energy goes into nurturing and supporting others. For someone who gives so much to those around them, Bo is now in a position where they also need some assistance and support. If you know Bo then you know that they are compassionate, caring and hardworking. They have poured so much into their community and now is the time to give back!
It is not always easy to ask for help which is why I am asking for help on their behalf. Bo's bills are about $1000 a month, so the amount of $3000 is expected to cover the cost of their expenses while they are unable to work to provide for themself and get back on their feet.
