Fight for Hamish

Donation protected
On 6th July 2019, the Cullen family started their Saturday like most others, heading off to their son Hamish's Soccer game in Woodbridge. Hamish loved soccer but on this one occasion, he felt tired and didn't feel like playing. Later that morning Hamish started vomiting and the rocky road of finding out what was wrong to their little man started.

On 12th July, after days of medical investigations and MRI scans showed quite a significant tumour, Hamish was undergoing his first operation.

The results of this operation were shattering as they showed that Hamish had Medulloblastoma, a tumour usually found in children aged between 3 - 8 and is the most common of childhood brain cancers.

1 in 4 childhood cancers is Brain Cancer. A staggering statistic.

Medulloblastoma is an aggressive cancer and at this stage has three categories. Hamish’s tumour does not perfectly match the first two categories - these categories make up 10% and 20% of Medulloblastoma’s. Therefore Hamish is being treated by the third category which means the highest dose of radiation and chemotherapy. The positives are that he has no brain disease, no spinal seeds (MRI and lumbar puncture confirm this) and 100% extraction of his tumour. His chemotherapy will be for 7 months (cycles) and in Melbourne due to the staff being more varied and specialised. After his radiation of 6 weeks, he will have a 6 week break, then start the 7 cycles of chemotherapy. The family are hoping to come home for a short break in between the end of radiation and the start of the Chemo if Hamish is well enough but so many factors to consider before this is even reality for Hamish and his Family.

The next 7-10 months for Hamish's family will be between Hobart and Melbourne all whilst trying to balance being there for their little soldier and still raise a family, Hamish has two older siblings.  Any "normality" of life is non existent but still life goes on and being able to pay bills, get the older two children to school, work, family, everything that comes along with raising a family is harder now that any time and money is being prioritised to Fight For Hamish.

All Money donated will be used to support the Cullen family in being there for Hamish and their two Children.

As friends of this beautiful family, who are so giving despite the stress and pressure they face, we would like you to consider donating to assist Hamish and his family so they can continue to be their for him.
