On January 12th, 2023 I was stopped and searched illegally in the City of Bloomington by Officer Jack Loughrey.

In the body camera footage tells his partner he can't find anything more to continue to detain me. He says "I guess this is a traffic stop and nothing else" OPENLY disappointed he couldn't find a reason to continue to detain me... he says "look at his picture" and says to "let's 25 him" (search) and see what we can find...

He wrote in his report the reason for the stop was "MULTIPLE CRIMINAL INDICATORS". What criminal indicators? That you saw a black man driving down the street? This is the CULTURE of policing in Bloomington, Minnesota.

It is clear that even after George Floyd was murdered just miles from this incident, even after an worldwide outcry at the culture of policing in Minnesota - the City of Bloomington has not made the necessary departmental changes to protect the rights and lives of citizens of color in the community.

This is a violation of my civil rights. The City of Bloomington houses the Mall of America and sees 40 million visitors a year. I want the public to understand this is how the police here in Bloomington treat black people. I've submitted my complaint to the City of Bloomington, the response I got back was "The City of Bloomington Police Department has reviewed the video and decided not to take any action at this time".
