Black, Gifted & Whole is a revolutionary attempt to change the collective narrative of Black gay men.


Who We Are: 
We are a group of young Black gay men determined to empower, educate and mobilize other Black gay men by acknowledging, celebrating and affirming their whole selves. We understand that solely focusing on the sexual behavior of these men has historically done them a disservice. 

Why We Do It:
We believe that Black gay men are multifaceted and deserve a multi-pronged approach when being engaged. We believe that Sexual Health + Higher Education + Access to Resources can drastically affect the trajectory of their lives. We gain access to young Black gay men while in High School or currently attending HBCUs, assess their needs, aspirations, and sexual health awareness in order to connect them to reputable community resources while helping to build campus resources (Healthcare, College Scholarships, Internships, University/College LGBTQ Resources, Campus Safe Spaces). As mentors to these young Black gay men, we help establish an effective pipeline for Black gay men by connecting them to culturally and sexually competent community resources.The services we offer are; Capacity Building, GSA Creation, Scholarships,& Referral Services.

The Black, Gifted and Whole Scholarship Fund is determined to close this gap.

What We've Done: 
In 2015,  we hosted our first-ever Black, Gifted & Whole Award show. We raised over $15K to host the event. We were able to provide HIV tests to over 50 Black gay men. There were close to 250 attendees to help raise close to $3K for our #HBCU Scholarship Fund. We were able to award Jauan Durbin (2016 graduate of School Without Walls in Washington, DC) with a $2K scholarship to attend Morehouse College. 

What We Need:
Jauan has finished his first semester passing all five classes, joining several student organizations, finishing with nearly a 3.0 GPA. Jauan Durbin has a remaining balance of $1K due by January 17, 2017. We would like to raise this amount to ensure this incredible young Black gay man stays in college. Your donation MATTERS!
