Black Queer Disabled Mum; Urgent Help Needed

Donation protected
Hey my name is M, I am a Black, disabled, migrant queer woman and a mother of a young beautiful baby boy. I am an activist also that has been having a hard time for the past year or so.

I'm asking for support to help me cover my debt and a deposit for a new home during this pandemic. I've just started a new job after a long period of looking for employment, and although it's helpful to have a source of income, it is still not enough for me to support myself and my one-year-old baby.

Last year while I was heavily pregnant, Southwark council made me homeless. I was locked out of my own flat and had all my belongings (including clothes and resources that I'd bought for my unborn son) thrown away. Due to this neglect, and incompetence from the DWP, meaning I’ve been denied Universal Credit and free insulin from the NHS, I’ve acquired a large amount of debt that I’m struggling to pay with the amount I now earn. Unfortunately, my husband's work schedule has also been halted by COVID-19, which has further affected our income. As a result, my salary isn't covering my living costs.

I’m thankful to be in stable housing at the moment but this will change at the end of our tenancy in October where it is highly likely that the landlord will not renew our contract. They are unhappy that we have been demanding repairs and reporting their failures to the council. I will have to undergo the stress of house hunting soon and with so much debt to my name, I worry that this will affect my ability to find suitable housing.

My health has been deteriorating due to lockdown, both physical and mental. I have stopped taking insulin because I feel okay without it but also because I cannot afford it. My past traumas have been triggered by everyday exposure to the violence faced by Black people around the world. It’s been reassuring to see people come together during this pandemic and for Black Lives matter but I cannot help being reminded that the financial and social struggles of working-class disabled Black women keep being overlooked. Myself, as an anti-racist organiser, my son and I have been targeted by white supremacists and fascists on social media for the work I do in my community.

I'm currently asking for mutual aid and financial support to pay for the following things:

1) Paying off debts I've accumulated for the past year  (£4504.86)

2) To pay for a deposit for a new place  (£1000)

I would greatly appreciate anything that you could donate. If you can't afford to, that's okay, but please share this on social media.
