Black Mom and Daughter in desperate need

Hello, my name is Cocoa and I’m currently living in Washington, DC. I’m asking for anyone who can reach out, support, guide, assist, absolutely whatever it is in your power to help us because we are facing the very scary reality that my mother and I are as of now homeless. I hate doing this because asking for help feels degrading and feels like begging, however I’m learning that closed mouths DO NOT get fed. To give backstory, me and my mother had just moved to DC middle of july this year. We had money saved up, a place to stay, and plenty applications filled in with seemingly countless jobs available to give us a great head start. However, in the middle of August, any job opportunities and interviews we had either fell through or came up with nothing. Also please keep in mind that we are using public transportation and we only have cellphones, no laptop, and any Amazon store we applied to was impossible to get to without uber/lyft there and back which we couldn’t afford. I know COVID is making things hard but it shouldn’t be this hard to where I can’t even get an interview at a local grocery store or starbucks or my Mom at a hotel.  We were willing to settle for bare minimum and couldn’t get even a pinch of that. After about a month, our funds became too low to continue our stay with our housing. I took a chance to reach out on twitter for help and was blown away! We were able to raise  around $3000! I’ve never EVER been blessed like that before! I’ve never even had $3000 at one time. That money was able to carry us and secure us housing and transportation and food. We were so relieved. People reached out and gave us info on jobs, I was able to fix up our resumes and made some calls. We were going hard in the paint. It still took a while, but I was finally able to land a job and my mom was reached out for job opening! This is all amazing but the hardest part about this is that I don’t start work until Oct 14th and I am at this very moment on the streets. I finally got a job to help support us and my mom has an opportunity, but we are actually homeless. It feels like things won’t let up.  To add to it, my stimulus check is still under “Payment Status Unavailable” and we haven’t been able to sort through the chaos of getting unemployment! I can only do so much in my power. I am trying and all I want is to be happy and work and enjoy my life, but it’s one thing after the other. We have called 20 different homeless shelters and churches and they have literally either laughed at us, hung up on us, or said “there’s nothing we can do, good luck”. I need this help. We are sitting on benches with bags as I type this and we've never been this low in our lives before. It’s scary. But I refuse to believe this is where our life ends. If anyone can help, please at least help by sharing. I know it’s a tall order but with this money, We can secure housing for 5-6 months and have enough money for transportation, and food and be able to stay on our feet long enough to build up our own money. I want to be able to handle this myself but I can’t. I don’t know what to do anymore. If you’ve made it this far, THANK YOU.
