Fundraising to grow our birding club!
Our goal is to create a free space for non-male identifying people to support each other simply by being together, present in nature, appreciating the flora and fauna around us. The club focuses on carving out a space in an historically white male dominated arena. Extra care is taken to be intersectional in our efforts and include not only the study and observation of birds but everything else in nature that is inherently connected.
Funds raised will first go to buy a couple pairs of binoculars for the club. We want to make sure that our birding walks are accessible to everyone and a solid pair of binoculars can run about $150. Next, We'd like to pay an artist to help us make a logo to use for future stickers, cards, t-shirts, hats, handkerchiefs and other swag for our members and merchandising. A spotting scope would also be great to have.
As interest has grown, so have our ideas for the future! We would like to do some community outreach and host kids organizations and encourage more young people to enter into the sciences and in birding. For example, funds could be used for supplies for building birdhouses with a girl scout troupe or school group.
