BIPOC SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY EVENT

Donation protected
Hello! My name is Tiana Day, the 18 year old founder of the youth-led nonprofit, Youth Advocates For Change. Youth Advocates For Change (YA4C) is a San Francisco, Bay Area based 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in June 2020, committed to amplifying youth voices through intersectional social justice issues. We have grown to over 150 nationwide members, powered by youth ages 10-21.

This holiday season our team is wanting to bring together BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and people of color) owned small businesses from all over the Bay Area for a " BIPOC Small Business Saturday" (and possibly Sunday with your help as well!).

What is "BIPOC Small Business Saturday" you may ask?
Our idea stems from the holiday season and the stigma behind "Black Friday". On the event of Black Friday, millions of Americans purchase from large corporations who gain millions of dollars due to this mass shopping weekend. Instead, we want to amplify small business owners of color and create an event for you to get your holiday shopping done while supporting local business owners who have been impacted during the COVID-19 pandemic. This event will be entirely grassroots with our main cause being to help our vendors get exposure and sales. This idea was brought up by passionate youth leaders at Youth Advocates For Change and our hope is to execute this event seamlessly with your help!

Where will my funds go if I choose to donate?
Our plan is to rent and secure two outdoor venues in the Bay Area for November 27th and 28th in order to host this event. We will invite a number of small businesses who will be able to set up a space and be able to sell their merchandise (you can recommend we invite a business by direct messaging @youthadvocatesforchange on Instagram OR sending us an email at [email redacted] ). We are looking at vendors who sell a variety of things including but not limited to; clothing, jewelry, home décor, beauty, art, photography etc. so all of your holiday wish lists can be fulfilled. In this event, your funds will go to venue rental costs, banners and signage, chairs, tents, food trucks and more. We plan to have a free gift wrapping station as well for our shoppers convenience.

The first step for us is to secure our venues, as soon as they are reserved for us we will be able to release more information about our event and will update this post with an eventbrite of further details.

Thank you for your time and consideration to donate to us so we can coordinate and execute this family friendly holiday event. If you have any questions, comments, concerns or ideas- feel free to contact us at [email redacted]
