Bike to Beat Cancer

On August 18th 2009 my grandmother Myrna June Fernandez lost her life to a long fought battle with adrenal cortical cancer. Adrenal cortical cancer is a rare but fatal cancer with little research and no known cure. My grandmother stayed strong and did all she could to battle the cancer. She was a great role model in my life. She was a compassionate lady who always went the extra mile for others. My grandmother was a positive influence in the lives of many. This coming August marks the 5th year anniversary of her passing. My brother and I have decided to celebrate her life and all she did for others by participating in a 150-mile bicycle ride from Manhattan to Montauk on May 31st 2014. We want to raise awareness and money for research about this horrible disease and hope to help others. We plan to donate all proceeds to the comprehensive cancer center at the University of Michigan health system. With the perseverance and determination that my grandmother had, we will train hard and succeed at this great challenge.
