BiKE: Ride With Us on Our Filmmaking Journey

We’re raising funds for the very first film from Bull City Baby Productions: BiKE — a bold new short film directed by Jaylon Steverson, written by Jalen McKoy, and produced by Daniella Ochman.

Logline:

When a young boy, Legend, needs money for a new bike, he finds himself on a rocky road where he is forced to ask himself if money is worth more than his morals.

Set in Durham, North Carolina, BiKE explores childhood, choice, and consequence through a fresh and intimate lens. At its core, it's a coming-of-age story that asks what we're willing to trade for what we want—and what we risk losing along the way. Through this story, we aim to shine a light on the complexity of Black boyhood and the weight young people carry in pursuit of freedom and identity.

As a brand-new, Black-led production company rooted in the Bull City, Bull City Baby Productions is committed to telling authentic, genre-fluid stories that center truth, culture, and community. BiKE is our first offering—and we want to do it right.

We’re asking for your help to raise funds for:

Crew and cast pay, Equipment rentals, Location fees and permits, Production design, Costumes, Props, Food, Transportation, Post-Production Editing, Color, and Sound.
