Good-bye Carrie

When I talked to Carrie on the phone in December, the night was long and her voice was weary and determined. Then she was scared. The night was long. Machine beeps in the ICU are disturbing and peace is fleeting. The prognosis was scary. She was scared for herself but, in typical Carrie fashion she was also scared for her loved ones. For Jake who had been supporting her for months as she tried to have her rapidly deteriorating health taken seriously by an overworked medical world. And anxious for her kitties to be safe and comfy.

The end of anyone’s precious life is littered with paperwork and unexpected expense. On top of that is the heartache we all feel fractions of. Please donate if you can as we try to ease some of this burden for her partner.

The goal of $10,000 was Carrie’s. She imagined that’s what would help get her chosen family into better housing, where she hoped to heal. We already raised a fair chunk of that and anything else would be a nice thing I think.
