Hi Everyone!! I was nominated by my gifted teacher to represent our school and go to Washington D.C. for the Jr National Young Leaders Conference. I am really excited that I was accepted.
If and when I raise enough money for the trip, I will be going to interactive workshops, group simulations, and historical site visits that will help me develop key skills I need to become an effective leader. I will learn goal setting, teamwork, problem solving, and communication.
Washington D.C. will be a real life classroom of American history at the National Museum of American History and the U.S. Capital Building. I also get to visit the Lincoln, Vietnam Veterans, and Korean War Veterans Memorials. I will also go to Harpers Ferry Natioinal Historical Park, where I will study John Brown's 1859 raid and discuss the choices and consequences of leadership.
The money that I am raising will be for tuition, airfair, and uniforms. (Deadline April 1st)
This trip will mean so much to me because I have never been there, see some really cool historical places, and learn a lot. I want to make my school and family proud of me and this won't only benefit me, but will benefit others around me when I can share what I learn with them.
