The Fight For What’s Right

Donation protected

On Wednesday June 10, 2020 the city of Texarkana, Texas decided to bend the knee to the rage mob at the expense of a local hero.

Thirty six year old Clay Phillips has been with the Texarkana, Texas Fire Department since 2008. In that time he’s dedicated his life to serving the public, and to being a father to his two young sons. During his career with TTFD, he’s received multiple awards for his performance under pressure, without a single complaint from citizens in the community he’s faithfully served. He’s the kind of man you want to show up in your worst of moments. From presenting him with an award for life saving CPR, to placing him on the cover of their own firefighter recruiting pamphlet, the city of Texarkana understands what Clay means to Texarkana, Tx.

Unfortunately, Texarkana city leaders made a hasty political decision to suspend Clay Phillips for 90 days without pay, in a disappointing attempt to save themselves from future attacks from the vocal minority who were demanding Firefighter Phillips be punished. The city leaders chose not to fight for one of their city’s finest. Instead they opted out of their duty to stand up for a man who echoed the sentiments of a recent Commander in Chief we refer to as “The Great Unifier.” The rage mob has already stolen his ability to feel safe in his home by threatening his life, and by threatening his young children. We won’t allow them to also take money from Firefighter Phillips’ pockets, or food off their table in the process.

The Texarkana area, along with the firefighting community nationwide, won’t stand idly by while a mob attempts to vilify this hero with inaccurate, unsubstantiated, and inflammatory accusations in an attempt to ruin his career. The purpose of this fund is to help support Firefighter Phillips’ by replacing his salary during his vacation, and to fund a fishing trip for his boys after what they’ve had to endure during this process.

Thank you for your support in these tough times. There is still work to be done, but with our help, Clay WILL win the fight for what is right.
