Belinda's Healing Fund

Hi, my name is Kayla. I am starting this fundraiser for a dear friend, Belinda, and her young family struggling to deal with a severe medical diagnosis and her ongoing medical requirements.

In July of last year, my dear friend Belinda was feeling unwell. The doctors referred Belinda to the Launceston General Hospital, and on the 8th of December, Belinda had exploratory day surgery. Leading up to this, Belinda had two blood infusions and one iron infusion to try and help with her loss of energy and general feelings of unwellness.

On December 8th, the surgeons found that Belinda had a large tumour in her bowel during the exploratory surgery. Belinda and her family were devastated to discover that Belinda had bowel cancer; she was not allowed to leave the hospital but booked for immediate and corrective surgery on the 10th December; during this surgery, Belinda lost a large section of her bowel. The prognosis that was not good has caused a severe shock to both Belinda and her young family. Belinda has a long journey ahead of her and is far from out of the woods yet!

The surgeons and specialists have told Belinda that her cancer has spread to her lymph nodes, and she now has 6-12 months of chemotherapy to beat this stage 3 cancer. Belinda is a single mum to a young family and trying to support her young family whilst bearing high medical costs and keeping the family home together.

The medical costs are overwhelming and stressful for Belinda and her family while trying to come to terms with this diagnosis. I am starting this GoFund Me campaign to assist Belinda and her family with medical and other costs for the next 6-12 months, trying to remove some of the financial stress from the family so that they can all focus on Belinda's healing journey.
