Believing in Baby Barwick
Spende geschützt
Please join us in sending love in financial form, to help Carly & Andy become parents. For those
who don’t know, Carly has dreamt of experiencing pregnancy and birth since she was a small
child. Carly & Andy started trying to conceive in 2019, but quickly realized something wasn’t
right. Carly has a diagnosis of PCOS, anovulatory cycles, and together they have been
genetically tested resulting in being carriers for two genetic diseases. Based on this data, they
determined it was most responsible and likely for them to have healthy full term
pregnancies/babies through IVF. They have completed 3 egg retrievals (resulting in 7 viable
embryos) and 6 transfers, unfortunately all resulting in failure and/or miscarriage at various
phases. Carly’s first transfer failed, the second resulted in chemical pregnancy, third led to a
miscarriage post graduating from the fertility clinic (when thought to be in the safety zone), more
tests ensued, fourth failed, and her fifth led to a miscarriage at the same phase as her third.
Emotions have been a rollercoaster for both Carly & Andy throughout this journey, and to say that their mental health has taken a hit is an understatement. They are resilient survivors, but this has taken pieces of them and changed their hearts forever. However, experiencing pregnancy and birth is still on Carly’s heart, and she should not have to give up on this dream. She has already lost aspects of what she thought conceiving would be for her and Andy, and as long as Drs are saying that there is hope she wants to try.
Carly went through even more testing, as well as several surgeries before her sixth and most recent transfer. This transfer again failed. At this point, Carly & Andy thought the dream would be over. When they spoke to their fertility doctor, she recommended looking into using an egg or embryo donor, as the problem was most likely the quality of Carly’s eggs, and not her uterus or ability to carry a full-term pregnancy. Moving forward using an egg donor is likely their last option for her to be able to carry their child. The past 4.5 years of treatments, surgeries, tests, and pregnancies have drained their resources already as insurance does not cover fertility treatments. The Barwicks say that they “could not ask for a gift more meaningful than helping to finally build the family they've worked tirelessly to have for more than half of their marriage.”
Please join us in showing some financial support to our dear friends. Having gone through fertility treatments myself, I know how humbling the whole experience can be and if we are able to help in any way ease what is already a painful situation we want to. Hopefully we can all be a part of transforming their pain and hardship into something more beautiful than they could have imagined: a final shot at carrying a child to term.
Love, prayers and encouragement. -The Sakala Family.
