Help Support Mike and boys, in Honor of Becky!

Donation protected
***Update:

It is with the utmost of broken hearts that we must share that Becky lost her fight Saturday, October 28th. Just 4 weeks shy of her diagnosis, and she fought like hell until the very end. It's not fair and she was far too young. At this time we are still asking that you respect Mike and the boys' need for space and allow them time to grieve. We will post arrangements once we have those available to share.

***We are asking everyone to please keep this fundraiser going, in Becky's honor, as Mike and the boys need their communities support now, more than ever before. Please share and keep Mike, the boys, Becky's parents and her entire family and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. We never wanted to make this statement, and definitely didn't think we would be making this so soon. The world lost a wonderful, beautiful and compassionate soul yesterday, but she will certainly NEVER be forgotten. All of our love goes out to her family and friends at this time. Becky we all love you and you will be missed terribly by all who were lucky enough to know you.***

You are some of the lucky ones if you know Becky and Michael Schuler. If you know them, you know how they live life in the face of adversity every day, but they don’t let that slow them down ever! They are also some of the most resilient people. Let us share some of their story. In her late 20’s, Becky was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. As much as they were shocked by this news, they fought and didn’t back down. While Becky fought through treatment, Mike was there to support her in every way possible. Simultaneously, he dealt with (and still continues) his own daily struggles of living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). These two are the picture of strength and triumph. They are fighters and some of the strongest, most caring people we know. A few years after her initial diagnosis, Becky and Mike were given the great news that she was cancer free and had entered the remission phase of her journey, but the adversity didn’t end there. They then faced the uncertainty of whether or not they would be able to have kids. They overcame that hurdle and were blessed with two amazing and talented boys. We like to call the boys their little miracles.

Through all of this, Becky and Mike's generosity and service to others has shown through everything they do. Both teachers originally (this is how they met!) their compassion towards others and animals alike is radiant. Becky has served as art teacher extraordinaire, often wearing many hats including mom to hundreds, counselor, life advisor, tutor, organizer, trip planner, cheerleader, painter, stage crew designer, coach and mentor. She also has been and still is the most exceptional colleague and friend to all Pembroke Dragons, always encouraging, guiding and supporting co-workers. She is the fastest to organize benefits and help for others as seen in her many years at her school. Michael supports animals and pet parents at a local pet emergency clinic from the front office. This love for pets carries into their home where they have two dogs and three cats. Becky and Mike also help with the local community youth sports and music programs. Becky is a mom every parent can always rely on. Becky and Mike have always been incredible supporters of their many nieces & nephews, siblings, parents, and friends. They are often the first people others call for help and support. It's our turn to return the kindness!

Fast forward to 2023, 12+ years into remission, Becky and Mike are facing their biggest hurdle yet. Becky was recently diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic and liver cancer. This is devastating.

Becky and Mike are fighting this new reality with brave faces. She battles daily with the symptoms that coincide with this diagnosis. Becky will be undergoing intensive chemotherapy and in her words she is “going to fight like H*ll!” At this time of utmost uncertainty, we are asking for prayers. Due to Mike's MS, Becky is the primary income and health insurance provider for the family, and even the sole driver. Given the uncertainty of medical bills, home expenses, the normal costs associated with raising two active boys, we are seeking monetary donations. If you are not in a position to donate personally, please share this so we can reach as many people as possible. It takes a village to help when a family is in need, and we don’t know a family more deserving of support from their community. Additionally we will be posting soon other financial needs for your consideration. No amount is too small!

Thank you for reading and for your support of this truly wonderful family during their darkest and most uncertain times. Please share, share, share and if you are one to pray, please pray endlessly. We all know we are.

At this time, please respect the family's boundaries and need for space. If you are looking for more information or have other ways of wanting to help, please reach out to: Paul Schuler (brother), Barb Weber (sister), Alexis Langheier (best-friend), Lauren Jozwiak (Weber, niece).
