Salutations! My name is Bear Mancinni
; I am a Life Scout with Troop 50 of Sarasota, Florida. An Eagle Scout Project is the final community service project that a scout leads to achieve the last rank in Scouting- Eagle Scout.

For my Eagle Scout Project I am proud to design, build, and supply a Little Free Library ( LFL) that promotes authors and protagonists that are Differently-Abled. With a Little Free Library anyone may take a book to borrow or keep at no cost. My Little Free Library will be filled with books carefully selected, read, and reviewed by me. It will be on the property of The Church of Our Lady Of Mount Carmel, next to a sidewalk on which students grades 2-12 walk to school. The Beneficiary for my Eagle Scout project is United Cerebral Palsy of Sarasota-Manatee ( UCP of Manasota).

UCP is a organization that serves people with Cerebral Palsy. I, myself, have Cerebral Palsy(CP).  CP is a neurological disorder that affects the brain-body connection. For me that means that I have trouble with even basic movements, ( such as standing and walking), and I am often in pain. However, I love to read!

Growing up I have noticed that there are very few books that have a protagonist that is Differently-Abled. And the books that do are hard to find in schools or libraries. For my project, I will seek out these books, read and review them, and make them available in my LFL. My hope is that they will inspire Traditionally-Abled Students to empathize with and include the Differently-Abled. And for students like me, my hope is they might feel represented and respected.

The biggest expense in my Eagle Scout Project is the purchase of the books to be put in the library, some of which are rare or only available hardcover. I am hopeful that some of the wood used in my project can be locally sourced and donated. I have already designed the library, and my fellow scouts will help with the construction and placement of it. There will be wooden awareness ribbons attached to the LFL that can be painted by younger scouts, and UCP Patients and Volunteers.

Any donation would be greatly appreciated and will go a long way to inspiring a life-long love of reading and the respect and understanding of the abilities of all people.
