The road to success isn't always an easy one to travel. However, despite numerous road blocks, I persevered and am finally approaching the end of my medical school training; with only one medical rotation to complete before I earn my M.D. degree.
On July 4, 2014, I was offered a once in a lifetime opportunity to complete my final medical school rotation practicing rural medicine in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, Africa. This unique experience will not only broaden my medical knowledge and reinforce my physical examination skills, but also enhance my CV making me a more competitive candidate for this upcoming 2015 resident matching season. Not only will I learn a tremendous amount about myself and global medicine; I will be able to use the skills I have garnered throughout my training to provide medical support and attention to those with limited resources.
This opportunity does, however, come with a price and I have realized I clearly cannot afford it on my own. Therefore, I have come to the difficult decision to write this letter asking for your help. I am in desperate need of your assistance. I am asking you for monetary donations to assist me in reaching my ultimate goal of $5000.00 which will go toward tuition, housing, medical supplies, and my round trip plane ticket. Your help will allow me to partake in this amazing experience practicing the career that I love!
I would appreciate any amount of help from you as there is no such thing as a small donation in this case.
The duration of my trip is 4 weeks. I will be leaving on September 7th and returning on October 4th. Please forward donations by August 25th.
