Bay Herbalism--Community Herbal Clinic

Sonoma County has faced unprecedented challenges in the last few years; from catastrophic wildfire to record-breaking flooding, we have seen our community through heartbreak and insurmountable hardship. As some rebuild, there are still many who continue to face adversity brought on by displacement, housing shortages, and enduring inequities in social support, financial stability and dependable healthcare. According to the Sonoma County Homeless Census, roughly 21,500 people are temporarily or precariously housed and considered vulnerable to becoming homeless in Sonoma, with about half of those cases due to the fires of the last two years. An estimated three thousand people are living on the street each given night, a number which had not risen to this level for many years.

At the same time, there has been incredible effort on the part of caring individuals and organizations to support those in need and give what they can to help ease the burden. And while many emergency services, relief organizations and aid networks have worked tirelessly to help fill the immediate needs of disaster-stricken areas, there is still a great need for ongoing, grassroots holistic care that provides complementary support to existing medical and social services.

In response to this and at the request of our community, we are establishing Bay Herbalism, a free holistic and mobile health clinic. We are made up of a team of clinically trained herbalists and healthcare practitioners who work to support the body’s inherent drive towards wellness. We operate under the approach of “do no harm”, and provide care in the form of first aid and wound care, as well as respiratory, immune, nervous system and digestive support. This support is offered in the form of herbal-based teas, tinctures, glycerites, honeys, and vinegars, matching the plant and preparation to the unique individual in need.

We all know the feeling of having a hot cup of herbal tea when we are tired, sick, or grieving. It is such a simple yet powerful way to relax and take a moment to nourish yourself and others. Beyond this dependable and easy method of care, holistic wellness can support in so many ways: from dealing with small first aid situations to helping boost immunity in the midst of challenging circumstances, having access to herbs and nutritive foods with the support of holistic practitioners can really help get us through the hardest of times. We are asking for your contribution to help sustain the efforts that are already under way to get this important care to those who need it.

As a project of Bay Herbalism, we are calling upon supporters for donations to keep our clinic  in action. Your donation directly supports affordable healthcare in your community, aiding us all in realizing the dream of a healthier, more vibrant world. With these donations, we can continue to get supplies and herbs to the folks that really need them. There is no contribution too small, every bit of effort helps our clinic provide support to those in need.

Thank you so much for your support. Please know that your donations are directly serving the health and well-being of our local community.

Take care and be well.
