The Jo Luck Club, Friends of BaSo in the restaurant industry and foodies of Sonoma County are creating this GoFundMe for Jenny Phan and her husband, Chef Sean Quan who are co-owners of Bazaar Sonoma (affectionately known as BaSo) . BaSo opened their doors less than a year ago, offering regional Chinese cuisine. Inspired by childhood and travel memories, BaSo reflects the desire to treat Sonoma County to more innovative regional Chinese cuisine and to showcase the food Chef Sean always made for family meal, a communal occasion shared by restaurant staff before service. This past year, a loyal following has been built in Sonoma County and BaSo has been recognized by Sonoma Magazine as "Best New Opening" and received a glowing review from the San Francisco Chronicle last week.

Imagine the flood of emotions as the community was notified that our beloved BaSo was on fire yesterday morning (Monday, September 22)! There are three tenants in the apartments above the restaurant and thankfully they are all safe and supported by the Red Cross. Our local fire districts were quick to respond and put out the fire before it reached the apartments. What was once a place for locals to gather and share a meal, what our team called their home, vanished in a flash.

BaSo does have insurance, however this process is long. There are many tasks considering the inventory, replacement costs, investigations and insurance forms and approvals. We want to show love to Jenny, Chef Sean and the staff of BaSo and help them get back on their feet as soon as possible. BaSo plans to have pop-up dinners to help support the staff and keep the spirit of BaSo, their home, alive. In the meantime, we hope you will contribute what speaks to you in your heart and we promise to return your love as we plan our re-opening in season two.
