Barnett's Detention Time Fund
On May 3, 2017 James Barnett “Barnett” went to the hospital for surgery on his leg to remove skin cancer and resolve an ongoing healing issue expecting to stay a few days. At the age of five James lost his leg after it was severely burned and has had related medical problems since. In spite of this, he has worked hard his entire life lovingly supporting his family. After being transferred to four different hospitals, multiple surgeries, and many treatments he remains in the hospital struggling to regain his strength unable to transfer positions on his own.
James has been a loyal employee for Refrigerated Transport Inc (RTI) for 47 years working many long days and nights. He answered his phone faithfully while away from the office on any day or at any hour. All the drivers knew they could count on him! On June 2, 2017 RTI informed James, while in his hospital bed, he would no longer receive a pay check until he returned to work.
Those of us who have had the privilege to know James are well aware of his devotion and loyalty to RTI as his phone was always ringing. He was helping drivers at all hours. James Barnett is a giver! Now it’s our turn to give back to the father figure of RTI!
