Barmah Brumby PG Flood Stranded Brumbies

The Barmah Brumby Preservation Group have set up a Go Fund Me originally for the sole purpose of creating a safe haven for brumbies, however with recent extreme flooding, a large group of brumbies and some wildlife have been found, stranded without any feed, on a small area in the bush. Too many have suffered and died an agonising death already. The group have completed one full days helicopter air drop and through extreme measures of public communication and media, the relevant authorities have had to step up to complete air drops weekly from here on. Therefore, donations have now moved from feeding the stranded brumbies, to repairing and setting up quite a large area of the Sanctuary again. The group will still be going out in boats daily to the stranded brumbies to check everything is continuing as discussed with the authorities. This disastrous flooding will be ongoing for quite sometime and they will be watching.
The Joint Management Plan between Parks and the Yorta Yorta has called for the definitive removal of 100 brumbies each year.
The BBPG have secured a lease on approximately 300 acres adjoining the Barmah Forest. Prior the flooding, on this land the group needed to erect more fencing, gravel lanes access and paddocks. Now, the Sanctuary is experiencing severe flooding, the brumbies currently at the Sanctuary require more feeding and the repair cost to the infrastructure is evidently huge. They will need to set up more water points, repair fencing, posts, gates, shed, toilet, poly piping and access points for vehicles yet again, but also hopefully prepare for more brumbies to join the Sanctuary once the water recedes in the bush.
On the sanctuary the first year lease is free, then $15,000 each year from thereon.
As a group, this is not what they hoped for, a flood as well as trying to stop the shooting, but at the present time, these brumbies are living on borrowed time, so the group is still asking for help to save these Barmah Hertiage Brumbies.
