Medical Expenses for Heather Hayes
In early February, Heather experienced severe abdominal pains and spent a week in the hospital undergoing a series of tests to determine the root of her pain. That stay resulted in an outpatient follow-up procedure to put in a stent for two weeks. They were treating her for an issue with her abdomen whereby her sphincter muscle was not contracting. She was on a liquid diet for nearly four weeks before the stent was removed.
On March 25th, after being discharged from the stent removal procedure, Heather was transported by ambulance back to the hospital in severe pain. Apparently, her pancreas perforated during the stent removal and the leakage of bile into her body caused her to go septic. At that time, another stent was put in and she was admitted into the ICU.
After several days, she moved out of the ICU to begin her healing, however her recovery has been difficult. Despite a few brief days of positive changes, she has spiraled backwards and has moved back into the ICU.
Over this 3-week period, Heather has received a series of blood transfusions; undergone additional procedures (potentially for a hole in her colon); suffered from internal bleeding; remained on liquid diet (mostly intravenously); and endured painful swelling from fluid retention in her legs and lungs. She also has drain bulbs attached to her, to continue to drain liquid from her body. Her body temperature and white blood cell counts are zig-zagging up and down. She will be in the hospital for at least two more weeks. Once discharged, she will require at-home care for upwards of a year.
Heather has asked for your prayers and kind thoughts. She is grateful for everyone who donates blood, as she has been the recipient of your kind act.
Scott's mom, Karen Lambert, and I are now asking for any contribution you are able to make toward the mounting medical bills and lost wages during this very difficult time.
Heather is a devoted wife and mother. Her husband, Scott, and children, Alexis and Andrew, miss her at home beyond measure.
Heather is also a lover of all animals and misses her own dogs and cats, as well as the dogs and cats she tends to when volunteering at the Taunton Animal Shelter.
Please consider any donation, no matter how small or large, either with your name or anonymously.
The second show I ever saw Scott perform in was a fundraiser, where he donated his time and talent to raise money for others. He has continued to do this throughout the years and has provided his gift of music at countless admission-free shows. Now, we are asking for friends, family, and fans to band together for our favorite guitarist, family man, and friend, to lighten his load while he helps Heather heal.
Thank you so much for your kind consideration.
Laura Attubato-Sarno, Karen Lambert, and the whole Hayes Family
