Balla Christmas Lights Fundraiser

The Balla Christmas Lights and Fireworks show has become one of the most favoured and anticipated events our community hosts annually.

Since 2013 when they first went up, the Christmas lights that light up Main Street throughout the festive period are as beautiful as you will find throughout the county and get praise from visitors from far and wide (main pic: Colin Redmond)

 

 

Unfortunately, however, the original lights that were purchased eight years ago have not stood the test of time and are in need of replacements for this year.

This, of course, is not going to be cheap and it is why we are turning to our community members, both present and exiled, to help keep Balla sparkling for Christmas 2021.

Our current light situation looks like this: Approximately 60% of the current lights, purchased eight years ago, need replacing, which equates to 30-40 sets. Each set costs €150, while the supply boxes and transformers on the Green also need replacing, adding to more cost.

 

 

Our community volunteers have already raised enough funds to cover the cost of the fireworks display this year through a Class & Vintage Car show (see video below) a few weeks back, more needs to be raised to cover the replacement lights.

We understand that times are difficult due to the pandemic, but we are appealing to you for whatever you can afford to help keep the Balla Christmas Lights and Fireworks show every bit as special in 2021 as it has been in the last eight years.
