Baked Goods for the Bayou and the Bordelon Family

Beschermde donatie
For those in our Fayetteville NC community who are fortunate enough to have become friends with Jen & James Bordelon over the last 7 years, you know what wonderfully kind people they are. I was introduced to Jen shortly after she and James were stationed at Ft Bragg where James served in the army. We became fast friends and her appreciation of the beauty in our world, her bubbly personality added with a dash of chaos makes you want to be her friend. Jen and I ended up having our children 6 months apart, both boys and like Jen and me, Theo and Grey became besties!
After having Theo, Jen joined our baby playgroup and became fast friends with other moms in our community who love she and James and their now THREE boys, like family.
Jen and James were huge supporters of our downtown and local businesses and actually lived in a loft apt on Hay St the entire time they lived in Fay. They enjoyed the hustle bustle of “city life” and Theo used festival park and the creek behind their apt on Old St as his own backyard.

Back in January, James and Jen decided to expand their family and move back to James’ hometown of Raceland, Louisiana. And with heavy hearts we all said goodbye….with plans of course to visit Raceland later this year.

Last week, Hurricane Ida nearly demolished Raceland along with the Bordelon’s home. Thanks be to God that the family headed to Mississippi ahead of the storm to safely stay with family as the hurricane blew thru their town. But as most of us can only imagine, returning home only days later to find your roof ripped from your home with over a foot of water in your first floor, can be heartbreaking.
And this is just one story. There are many more lives affected by Hurricane Ida.

As Jen and James’ friends back home, we wanted to do a little something to let them know we are thinking of them and their Raceland community. We also want to teach our children, Theo’s friends, that when a friend is in need, we pitch in and do what we can to help. So the children and their mamas have put together a “Baked Goods for the Bayou and the Bordelons” to raise money to send To the Bordelon family and they will also donate a portion of the funds to help in some small way rebuild Raceland.

If you would like to stop by and support our efforts, please join us THIS Saturday, Sept 11, from 9am-3pm in the parking lot front of Betty Kelly's Gift Shop in Haymount (1228 Ft Brag Rd). All money raised to will go to Raceland and the family.
And thank you to several local businesses who have already volunteered to donate goods: The Sweet Palette; Superior Bakery; the Coffee Scene; YellowCrayons; CityView of Fayetteville; and 219 Group; Rude Awakening coffee house; The Downtown Market

We are now also accepting monetary donations on our GoFundMe page “Baked Goods for the Bayou And the Bordelon Family.” Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity.

God bless!
