UPDATE:

Eli Alexander was born sleeping November 7th 2014 at 1123pm. His story is an incredible one of bravery and fortitude, one that his family will cherish forever.

We are still raising money to help this grieving family. Tara is out of work indefinately until she recovers and is not really sure if she will have a job to return to. David is taking leave without pay to grieve for his son. If you are in a position to, please give. Any amount is a beautiful gift to them. Thank you to all.

...............Our family is in the midst of the biggest fight for life we have ever endured.

On October 11th, 2014, Tara was admitted to Sentara Princess Anne Hospital for pProm, preterm premature rupture of membranes. Our baby boy was given a 1-3% chance of making it through the weekend. Then we were given the option to induce labor and end our ordeal.

We decided that our baby was fighting. So we would fight too.

In the weeks following, our family has met several obstacles. The largest being that Tara is now confined to bedrest until such time as determined safe by her doctors. The anticipation is that she will stay on bedrest until she is admitted to Norfolk General....where she will continue hospital bedrest until delivery. Our first goal is to make it to 23 weeks, the youngest potential age for viability, with a 50% chance of survival. Our second goal is to make it to 30 weeks, were our chances are excellent!

Because of her bedrest, Tara is unable to work full time and is working a few hours a day from home. This is a huge financial impact on the family. The cost of a micro-preemie's hospital care is upwards of $400,000.00 We hope it does not come to that, but we are trying to prepare for the worst case scenario. We can't imagine anything but a life where every day isn't a horrorshow of fear and trepidation. But we can prepare. But we need help.

Tara and David have always been philanthropists and this is their time to redeem desperately needed karma points.

No matter what, your prayers and your good thoughts go so far. We thank each and every one of you for your prayers, good thoughts, and embraces from afar. It is needed and so appreciated. We are blessed to know so many wonderful people and our only hope in this world is that our baby boy will get to know you one day!
