Baby Zora’s Giant Omphalocele recovery

Hello my name is Todd(bio dad) and my partner Jesii (bio mom) is 9 months pregnant as I write this.

Currently we are venturing into the unknown with our new baby expected February 9th 2022 via c-section. We have decided on a name of Zora and it’s going to be a girl!

My partner and I have been together for over 2 years and are planning to get married one day in the far future, this is Jesii’s first kid and my second.

We are very excited to meet our little girl and hope we are able to hear her voice for the first time! She’s kicking lots and measuring well on scans at 5 lbs 5 ounces!

The birth defect we are facing is called a Giant Omphalocele. It is a type of abdominal wall defect in which the bowel, liver and other abdominal organs extend into the abdomen near the base of the umbilical corn, in our case baby’s Liver and some intensities didn’t make it inside her tummy.

The process in which to repair this birth defect can be a lengthy time period ranging from months to years depending on the seriousness, the multiple doctors we have spoken to have mentally prepared us to be in the hospital area and not bringing Zora home for a minimum of 6 months.

Originally we are from Prince George BC and had to move to Vancouver BC temporarily while we wait for baby to be born. Over the past 4-5 months we have had to make monthly trips to Vancouver for ultrasounds and meeting with doctors, during this time because of the high risk of the pregnancy neither myself nor Jesii have been able to work and have been running our savings dry and built up a debt.

Currently we are staying in temporary housing that will help support us which we are very thankful for. But as of right now we are uncertain where our future will take us and how we will be able to see our baby.

Our current financial situation is we have begun to sink into debt so we have decided to ask for funding to support our future with Zora and to make sure she can come into this world and have loving and caring parents around as she faces a rough start to this world.

The amount we are asking has been determined based on the average price of rent in the Vancouver area for up to 6 months plus an approximate cost of food, living expenses, transportation, plus reducing the amount of debt we have accumulated to balance our budget and stay even going forward.
