Baby Santino’s trachea and heart surgery fund
Donation protected
To anyone who is willing and able to help our family:
Santino was born 4/26/24 at Mount Sinai and has spent the duration of his life in the NICU. After 3 days he was diagnosed with double outlet right ventricle and a pulmonary sling affecting his airway opening, making it difficult for him to breathe properly. He was then transferred to Holtz Children’s Hospital where they ran some tests and more detailed assessments with the intention of eventually sending him to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. After about 3 weeks he was finally able to make it to Cincinnati. Since we arrived here they did an endoscopy, which gave them a conclusion that his surgery for the trachea would ideally be performed sooner than later and his open heart surgery would be safer if he gained some more weight first. With the goal being to perform them simultaneously, the doctors agreed to try to get him up to 4 kg or close to 9 pounds (he’s 7.8 pounds right now)
So, hopefully that will take place within one month. As you could imagine, his mother Aldana is here with him indefinitely and I (his father Stephen) am missing quite a bit of work to be here as much as I can also (we live in Miami). With all of this hospital stay, the surgeries alone, and travel/food, the expenses are going to be astronomical. Any and all help in this matter would be greatly appreciated
