Liana Irie De La Vega

On July 25, 2022 at 8:21PM, Liana Irie De La Vega was born at 7lbs, 11 oz and 22 inches. Shortly after being born, Liana had to be resuscitated by doctors and was then transferred to another hospital to receive further care in the NICU. Meanwhile, Liana’s mother Natalie had to stay behind and underwent major surgery due to complications during her labor and went a whole day without seeing her newborn baby. It was later discovered that Liana was cut off from oxygen during labor and suffered serious brain damage. Liana experienced multiple seizures and was then placed on induced hyperthermia for 72 hours. For 3 days, Liana’s family waited and prayed for her recovery. Sadly, Liana was not making progress and an MRI showed that she experienced 90% damage to her brain. It was at that moment that her parents Adrian and Natalie, had to face the hardest moment in their lives and prepared to say goodbye to their baby girl. Liana’s last days were spent meeting her older brother and sister, Dominic and Aniyah, who were saddened and confused that their baby sister was not coming home with them. Liana had her last heartbeat at 4:25PM on Wednesday August 3, 2022 and became an angel we will keep in our hearts forever.

Although there is nothing we can do or say that can lessen the heartache Liana’s parents and family have endured, we are asking for donations to help alleviate some of the financial burden brought by this unexpected and tragic loss. The money raised will go towards Liana’s funeral services, medical expenses, and additional financial support for Liana’s family.
