Addison-Marie Quinn Kau'i'anela'onalani Doughty was born three and a half months premature on December 30, 2018, and passed away on January 2, 2019.
The pregnancy was going well. All the doctor's visits showed signs of a healthy baby girl. At 6 months her Mom Tia Marie went into labor, and was rushed to the hospital for an emergency c-section. Tia's husband Vaughn, a United States Marine, was in Japan and advised his wife to get to the hospital asap when she began dialating 3 months early.
The next day Vaughn was flown to Hawaii to be with Tia and his baby girl Addison. While the doctor's and nurses were focused on making sure that Addison was stabilized, they informed Tia and Vaughn that she would have to stay in the NICU, Neo Natal Intensive Care Unit, until her original due date of April 12, 2019. While Tia was recovering from her surgery Addison's situation started to change for the worse, and by January 2, 2019 passed peacefully in her Father's arms.
We are raising initial immediate funds to assist Tia and Vaughn with burial expenses, and to travel home to Ohio for a memorial service with their immediate family. Additional fundraising may be necessary for medical expenses which will likely be substantial.
This is an extremely difficult time for for Tia, Vaughn, and our entire family. There are no words to express the grief and disbelief that baby Addison is no longer with us.
