DAY OF GIVING - ADOPT ME! BLUEGRASS PET RESCUE

Located near the East End of Louisville, Adopt Me! Bluegrass Pet Rescue is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that facilitates the rescue, rehabilitation and adoption of animals from area kill shelters. We are an all volunteer group and 100% of your donations go towards the medical and emotional treatment and care of the companion animals.

Adopt Me! Bluegrass Pet Rescue realizes that behind each successful pet placement with an Adoptive Family, there is also a "people" side to the story! All lives are affected when a match is made and Adopt Me! Bluegrass Pet Rescue works hard to find the "perfect fit" for "both sides!" Since our inception in November of 2014, we have placed over 2,500+ companion animals with loving committed families!

IT'S WHAT WE DO!

*Paws Behind Bars Trained Dogs - This program allows unmannerly dogs from shelters and neglectful homes to receive experienced training from our skilled and trained inmate handlers at Luther Luckett Correctional Complex so that they can become a highly adoptable companion animal!

 

 

*Hollywood Movies and Commercials - We've been fortunate enough to work with the Owner of Reel Rescues who has chosen many of our canines (and felines) for work in commercials and movies! It's been very exciting and our pups have filmed scenes in movies for the Russo Brothers and Ron Howard; including the latest movie, HILLBILLY ELEGY! (Ron Howard in the baseball cap!)

 

 

*Scent Detection We adopted a Detection Dog for invasive species in Everglades National Park - Our Beagle puppy, Violet, was adopted and trained to replace "Python Pete" who passed away.

*We have rescued hundreds of homeless animals, many with medical maladies such as broken legs, ACL tears, cherry eyes, heartworm positive, tumors, missing limbs, mange, neurological impairment, and the list goes on.

 

 

*Senior Citizens - Numerous Adopt Me! BPR dogs have found homes with Senior Citizens giving them much needed companionship!

*First Therapy Dog in KY Alternative High School - Maisy, a Mastiff mix, works with high school staff member Anita at the Buckner Alternative High School in Oldham County!

 

 

*Paws For Me Trained Service/Therapy and Emotional Support Dogs - PAWS FOR ME (program out of Luther Luckett Correctional Complex) is providing Service/Therapy and Emotional Support Training to canines to be placed in institutions, with children and with Veterans experiencing issues like PTSD.

*Military Base Service Dog - Service Dog, Smudge, is used for emotional support after the soldiers Live-Stream Combat Training Sessions on an Indiana Military Base.

 

 

*FAMILY COMPANION PETS - Since 2015, over 1,800+ companion animals have been placed making our motto "Saving Lives and Creating Families" come to life!!

 

 

PAWS BEHIND BARS TRAINING - CLASS IN SESSION!

 

 

Adopt Me! Bluegrass Pet Rescue is host to a fascinating inmate training program called PAWS BEHIND BARS! Located in the Luther Luckett Correctional Complex in Oldham County, this program has been maintained by a staff member from Adopt Me! BPR since 2009! This program trains unmannerly canines and molds them into highly desirable family companion pets. While this program absolutely gives the canines a second chance at life, the Paws Behind Bars program also enhances the lives of the inmate handlers by giving purpose, responsibility, accountability and education for possible reentry into society.

 

ADOPT ME! BPR GIVES BACK TO OUR COMMUNITY

Adopt Me! Bluegrass Pet Rescue recognizes that rescue is a team effort! We partner with other rescue groups and 501 organizations that align with the mission and goals of our organization. We also support the local community through educational outreach through groups such as Rotary Club, Girl Scout Troops and school classrooms! Adopt Me! BPR also sponsors scholarships for graduating high school youth to support the "future." THANK YOU for reading about our organization!
