NICU Care Packages

Hi, our names are Carissa and Darrick Godbott.

We are currently running a fundraiser for NICU Care Packages in Cleveland, OH.

The NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) will always hold a special place in our hearts! In 2012, our daughter was born with a Cleft Lip and Palate and stayed in the NICU at Metrohealth Hospital due to feeding and breathing issues. She graduated from the NICU after a 50-day stay and came home with a g-tube in her stomach. She used the g-tube twice at home and eventually had it removed and has been thriving ever since.

Two years later in October of 2014, we were blessed with identical twins. At birth, we learned the oldest twin was born with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia and the youngest twin was perfectly healthy. The oldest twin was immediately sent to a Level IV NICU at Cleveland Clinic. He had one surgery to repair the hernia and move his organs to their correct position. However, after 58 days in the NICU he gained his angel wings.

As you can see, the NICU has a special place in our hearts! While our children were in the NICU, Darrick and I received a number of care packages from families that were previous NICU Families. The packages included little trinkets to put a smile on our faces!

Something that has been on our hearts for a while is to "pay it forward" we would like to provide as many NICU Care Packages as we can to share at Metrohealth and Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH!

We would like your help in raising funds to create 136 Care Packages. This covers 87 NICU Beds at Cleveland Clinic and 49 NICU Beds at Metrohealth Hospital. The care packages will consist of a bag filled with antibacterial wet wipes, hand sanitizer, socks for moms and dads, lip balm, lotion, gum, a snack, and any other necessities we are able to provide.

Our plan is to deliver packages before the holidays! Being a NICU parent is difficult and especially hard during the holidays. We plan to deliver packages before the Thanksgiving Holiday. And hopefully, be able to continue this each year after, by continuing to be a blessing to families at their most difficult times especially during the holiday season.
