Connecting Gaza to the World

My friends and family know that the Palestinians in Gaza have been cut off from the rest of the world for 10 years as a result of the Israeli siege and blockade. I witnessed first-hand the consequences of this isolation when I lived and worked in Gaza (2012-2013) and I’ve been blogging about Gaza for several years. Why Gaza?
Despite the physical isolation, many Palestinians remain connected to the rest of the world via the Internet. The younger generation of entrepreneurs in Gaza can do freelance work on their computers; others can continue their studies online; and many benefit from the emotional support that comes by maintaining contact with international friends. A computer is their indispensable life-line.
My good friend in Gaza has accomplished miracles with his laptop computer. Following an internship with the Rachel Corrie Foundation in Olympia, Washington, he returned to Gaza to launch an NGO in the summer of 2015 for children. His programs and activities have impacted hundreds of young children through physical education, games, activities and field trips.
Last month, his old laptop computer was irreparably damaged. He is stuck and, without a laptop computer, he can’t organize the activities needed to sustain his NGO. He doesn't want to raise funds for himself because his efforts are focused on the children and his NGO.
I want to help him by raising $1,200 as soon as possible so that he can purchase a MacBook Air laptop computer which is available in Gaza. He doesn’t have the funds, and I don’t have the funds. I’m asking my friends and family to consider pitching in a few dollars to help me reach this goal.
