Wendy and Harry moved to Melbourne in April from Denver. They came because Wendy's brother passed away and her mom was alone. Wendy is on disability and Harry is retired and collects social security. They are caught in a catch 22 situation. They don't have the money to get into an apartment and can't live with Wendy's mother because of Wendy's health issues (mom smokes and her house is very dirty). In order to go into an apartment locally they need first and last month's rent plus a deposit which would come to about 3 -4 thousand dollars. Once they are in an apartment they should have enough to pay the bills. Harry has been looking for a job but most people will not hire a 73 year old. Wendy can't work. For a couple of months, Wendy's mom tried to help them with money to stay in a hotel. The money has run out and now they are living in a tent in a local camp grounds.
I would personally be so grateful for any help you can offer and they certainly would too! Harry is willing to work and very able! They have been volunteering at my Temple and Harry is very handy! He fixed our commercial dishwasher and helped put up our Sukkah!!
PLEASE HELP THEM AS SOON AS YOU CAN! THEY ARE COVERED WITH BUG BITES AND ARE REALLY MISERABLE!
