The Independence Fund
Donation protected
The Lambda-Xi Chapter of Kappa Sigma has teamed up with the campus IFC in order to raise money and purchase a motorized track chair for a local wounded veteran. This track chair, provided by the Independence Fund, will drastically improve the quality of life for its recipient.
Unlike a normal motorized wheelchair, track chairs are designed for all-terrain transportation. This design can allow a handicapped person to do anything from a take a family day at the beach to go on a solo grocery run. And although we often take those same activities for granted, the ability to do them would be tremendous for someone who hasn't been able to since before they were deployed.
As a chapter of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, our main philanthropic effort is the SEAL Legacy Foundation, which allocates provisions for wounded veterans and their families. With that considered, this cause is very near and dear to our hearts. To us, this isn't just about getting a wounded veteran into a new wheelchair. It's about returning independence to those who lost it while protecting the freedom of our country.
