Bobcats On The Job

Donation protected
My name Is Deb Eisen and I am an Exceptional Student Education teacher at Boca Raton Community High School in Florida. I teach the On-The-Job-Training course to high school seniors who have Autism Spectrum Disorder Level 1, formerly known as Asperger's Syndrome or High Functioning Autism.

I am raising money to help support my students in their quest to gain experience in the community at different worksites.  I teach the social skills to prepare them to become a valued part of the work force. These skills are imperative to have when navigating the community and establishing and maintaining relationships.

My students are extremely kind, hard-working, and focused. They face unique challenges that people who are "neurotypical" easily handle.

I am continuing this innovative program with no funds. I have covered all expenses, to this point, out of pocket. Funds that are generously donated will be used to expand this program. Some of the funds will be used for food preparation, products required for activities of daily living, independent living skills  as well as the following:

1. Uniforms for students to wear on the job that match the job expectations, e.g. working in the food industry requires we wear a head covering, pants, closed toed shoes and a uniform work shirt that identifies my students and our school.

2. Travel training requires teacher/job coach and assistant to ride the bus to and from worksites and community based instruction adventures. This all costs money each and every time, both legs of the trip.

3.  Field trip and event admissions for our Community Based Instruction.

I will need the money for the next school year, 2016-2017 which begins in August, 2016.

This program was born out of the intense need and heartfelt desire of my students so they feel prepared to enter the workforce, college and the community.  I started this program this school year and I refer to my students and their parents as pioneers! We have fought side by side every step of the way to provide services so critically needed for this population. They deserve an opportunity to achieve the greatness of an Einstein or a Bill Gates. These transitional services I am providing will assure their future success.

I am so thankful that you have taken time to read our story and hope that you find it in your heart and pocketbook to donate to this very worthy cause.

Warmly
Deb Eisen
